Belzan

[This is subject to change]

Belzan was born in Kryta, late into the Season of the Scion, in the year 1043 AE, to a priestess of Dwayna. Growing up in Beetletun, he learned alchemy and the teachings of Dwayna from his mother. Belzan was born with a birthmark–a scar across his face that many believed to be the Mark of Grenth. After his mother’s death, he struck out on his own to seek his purpose and learn more about his birthmark from the sages at the Academy of Arcane Arts in Ascalon.

Belzan’s path has been anything but straight and narrow. His story “Chronicles of the Eremite” tells of his accomplishments and setbacks along the way. He has met many people he calls friend, and many foes as well, including his former master Verata the Necromancer. Despite having friends and allies who would lay on a sword for him, Belzan favors the solitary path of a Necromancer, seeking to find his place in the world. He has held many titles along the way including “the Eremite” bestowed upon him by the Forgotten in Elona, and “Bookah Magus” or simply “Magus” which was favored among the Asura.

Belzan favors Alchemy among other things. It was the trade of his mother and his mother’s caretaker, the man from whom Belzan’s name stems. Belzan has hand crafted nearly every item he carries; a trade he learned from his father. He is very self sufficient and tends to go it alone more often than necessary. After the winding path of religion left a sour taste in his mouth, Belzan embraced Eternal Alchemy. He sees his role in the grand equation and seeks to fulfill it, no matter the cost.

Belzan is quiet and often meditative. He oft seeks old libraries and new books to read, as his thirst for knowledge is never quenched. He has traversed nearly every inch of the world for one reason or another and is knowledgeable of many esoteric things. He often puts others before himself, but also weighs the gravity of a decision carefully. Does the benefit outweigh the cost, and how will the world be changed by a person’s actions? His hope is to carry out his role in life and to help those who cannot help themselves.
